This is my painting of Slea Head in Co. Kerry. It is for auction via Gormleys art auctions, as Lot 232. The auction is currently live on-line for pre-auction bidding and the Gallery will host the actual auction night on 22nd February at 7pm in the Gallery at 25 South Frederick Street just off Nassau Street beside Trinity College Dublin. Here is the link to my Slea Head Painting. This is your chance to get a high quality piece of Irish Landscape Art at a very affordable price. My prices may not be so low for much longer as when I get a few consistent sales behind me, I will be raising my prices. This piece is framed, ready to hang, in a cream-white solid wood frame. So don't let the chance go, if you want to get a quality artwork by me, an emerging artist at the affordable end of what hopefully will be my successful art career.
Below is a snapshot or two of a current work, which is still in the studio. It is my largest work in oils to date, 24" x 20" on canvas. I intend to paint this size and larger more often.

Child with Dog Painting Finished
I am going to call this painting "Eighty Winks" unless I can think of another better name. It is not my usual subject but I am learning new subject matter, so be prepared to see other different themes from time to time. I don't want to be one of those artists that always churn out the same stuff excessively, although eventually that does happen us all to some extent when we need to make a living, as we gravitate toward one theme or another which is successful. Hopefully this painting can be considered a success. I have learnt a lot about the use of colour in painting this and intend now to do further portrait work in the coming weeks, along with my usual landscape paintings. I am trying to complete a few outstanding paintings now before I start anything new, so that I don't have the house full of half-finished projects. I am getting more disciplined in that respect which is great, all it takes is will-power. As usual, feedback welcome. Thanks Jim

Slea Head -- My first painting of Spring!
Slea Head is in Kerry in the West of Ireland. It is a scenic area and each year a lot of tourists visit this remote part of Ireland. Many people enjoy the scenery and also as Kerry is home to the highest mountains in Ireland there are challenges for the more adventurous too. The highest mountain Carrauntoohill is only 3000ft approx. but actually it is much harder to climb than many much higher mountains. I have climbed Toubkal in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco 14200ft, but had to turn back when halfway up the Devil's ladder (a rock channel leading steeply up this mountain) many years ago, due to impending rain and descending mist. The above painting was only started last week but I have pushed myself to finish it quickly as I wanted to include it in a portfolio which was needed this week. Now that it's finished I can get back to my painting of the Grand Canal in Dublin as it is not to far away from finishing either.
